Yum Baby Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Yum Baby. These Terms & Conditions apply when you use the Yum Baby app, website, and related services.
Yum Baby is operated by Yum Baby Limited, a New Zealand company.
By creating an account, starting a subscription, or using Yum Baby, you agree to these Terms. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information.
1. About Yum Baby
Yum Baby is an educational and organisational tool designed to help parents and caregivers navigate introducing solid foods and the early years of eating.
Our features may include food suggestions, preparation guidance, feeding stages, allergen tracking, food history, progress tracking, recipes, recipe building tools, and caregiver sharing.
Yum Baby is designed to make feeding information easier to understand and use. It is not a healthcare service and does not replace professional medical, nutritional, or developmental advice.
2. Who can use Yum Baby
Yum Baby is designed for adults who are parents, guardians, or caregivers.
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Yum Baby account.
Children should not create or independently operate Yum Baby accounts.
If you provide information about a baby or child, you confirm that you are their parent, guardian, authorised caregiver, or otherwise have permission to provide and manage that information.
3. Yum Baby does not provide medical advice
The information provided through Yum Baby is for general educational and informational purposes.
Yum Baby does not provide medical diagnoses, treatment, personalised nutrition advice, or individual clinical feeding recommendations.
Our general feeding, preparation, and developmental guidance is created with typically developing babies and children in mind. Individual children may have medical, developmental, oral motor, swallowing, allergy, dietary, or feeding considerations that cannot be assessed through an app.
If your child has additional medical, developmental, or feeding needs, please work with an appropriate qualified healthcare professional to determine when and how foods and textures should be introduced.
Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking medical care because of information you have read or received through Yum Baby.
4. You know your child best
Every baby is different.
Age and feeding stages can provide useful general guidance, but they cannot tell us whether an individual child is developmentally ready for a particular food, texture, or preparation.
You are responsible for deciding what, when, and how to feed your child and for considering your child's individual development and needs.
Yum Baby should be used alongside your own judgement and any advice provided by your child's healthcare professionals.
5. Choking and feeding safety
It is impossible to completely eliminate choking risk when a baby or child is eating, regardless of the food, texture, preparation method, or feeding approach used.
Yum Baby provides general food preparation and safety information to help caregivers make informed choices, but we cannot assess your individual child or the way food has been prepared or served in your home.
You are responsible for:
supervising your child while they eat
ensuring your child is appropriately positioned for eating
determining whether your child is developmentally ready for a particular food or texture
preparing and serving food appropriately
following relevant food safety practices
following individual advice given by your child's healthcare professionals
seeking appropriate medical assistance when necessary
If your child is choking or experiencing a medical emergency, seek emergency medical assistance immediately.
6. Allergens
Yum Baby includes tools to help you introduce, record, and keep track of common allergen exposures.
These tools are intended to provide information and help with organisation. They do not diagnose, predict, prevent, or rule out a food allergy.
Yum Baby cannot guarantee that any food, packaged product, recipe, or ingredient is free from allergens or cross contamination.
Ingredients, recipes, manufacturing processes, and product formulations can change. Always check packaging and ingredient information yourself before serving a food.
If your child has a diagnosed or suspected food allergy, has previously experienced an allergic reaction, or has been given an individual allergen introduction plan, follow the advice of your child's qualified healthcare professional.
7. Recipes and recipe builder
Yum Baby may provide recipes, meal ideas, ingredient combinations, and recipe building tools.
These are intended to provide inspiration and general information.
Recipes and suggestions are not individually assessed for your child's medical conditions, allergies, developmental readiness, nutritional requirements, or dietary restrictions.
You are responsible for reviewing ingredients, preparation methods, texture, and suitability before serving a recipe to your child.
8. No guaranteed outcomes
Yum Baby is designed to help families introduce variety and keep track of their child's journey with food, but feeding outcomes depend on many factors outside our control.
Using Yum Baby does not guarantee that your child will:
accept particular foods
avoid picky eating
develop particular food preferences
avoid or develop fewer allergies
avoid choking
meet particular nutritional targets
reach a developmental milestone at a particular time
experience a particular health or developmental outcome
Our goal is to provide useful, evidence informed information and tools, not to promise a particular result.
9. Research and guidance change over time
Research relating to nutrition, allergy prevention, complementary feeding, food safety, and child development continues to evolve.
We may update Yum Baby's information, preparation guidance, feeding stages, foods, recipes, and other content as evidence and recognised professional guidance change.
We take reasonable care when developing Yum Baby's content, but we cannot guarantee that every piece of information reflects every study, guideline, healthcare system, or professional opinion available in every country at all times.
10. Your Yum Baby account
You are responsible for providing accurate information when creating and using your account.
You are also responsible for keeping your account and sign in details secure.
Please contact us at info@yumbaby.co if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
You must not access another person's account without their permission or attempt to bypass Yum Baby's security features.
11. Baby and child profiles
You may create a profile containing information about your baby or child.
This can include information such as foods tried, allergen exposures, favourites, feeding progress, and other information supported by Yum Baby.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have authority to enter and manage information about a child.
Personal information contained within a child profile is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
12. Sharing with caregivers
Yum Baby may allow you to share a child's profile with another parent, family member, caregiver, or other person you choose.
Only share access with people you trust.
An authorised caregiver may be able to see or contribute information to a shared profile depending on the permissions available within Yum Baby.
You are responsible for deciding who should have access and for removing access when it is no longer appropriate.
You must not share information about a child with another person through Yum Baby unless you have the authority to do so.
Yum Baby cannot control what an authorised caregiver remembers, records, screenshots, or otherwise retains after information has legitimately been made available to them.
13. Subscriptions
Some Yum Baby features require a paid subscription.
Our standard subscription options are currently:
USD $4.99 per month
USD $29.99 per year
Eligible new subscribers may receive a two week free trial.
If you subscribe through the Apple App Store, the price, currency, taxes, trial eligibility, and other purchase information displayed by Apple at the time you subscribe apply to your transaction.
Local App Store pricing may differ from the USD pricing shown on the Yum Baby website.
14. Free trial
Eligible subscriptions include a two week free trial.
Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will convert to the paid subscription you selected and will automatically renew in accordance with the terms displayed by Apple, except where applicable law or App Store rules require otherwise.
Apple determines eligibility for App Store introductory offers.
The subscription price and billing frequency will be displayed before you confirm your subscription.
15. Automatic renewal
Yum Baby subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store are auto renewable subscriptions.
Unless cancelled, your subscription will continue to renew at the end of each subscription period at the applicable price.
You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple account subscription settings.
You should cancel before your next renewal if you do not want your subscription to continue.
16. Cancelling your subscription
Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals.
You will generally continue to have access to the subscription until the end of the period you have already paid for, subject to Apple's applicable terms.
Deleting the Yum Baby app does not cancel your subscription.
Deleting your Yum Baby account does not automatically cancel a subscription billed through Apple.
If you want to stop future App Store charges, you must also cancel the subscription through Apple.
17. Refunds
Payments made through the Apple App Store are processed by Apple.
Requests for refunds for App Store purchases should generally be submitted to Apple and are subject to Apple's applicable refund processes and policies.
Nothing in these Terms removes or limits any refund, remedy, guarantee, or other right available to you under applicable consumer law.
18. Price changes
We may change our subscription plans or prices in the future.
If a price change affects an existing subscription, it will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the requirements of the App Store.
Where required, you will receive notice or be asked to agree to the new price before it applies.
19. Your content and information
You keep ownership of the information and content you add to Yum Baby.
You give Yum Baby a limited, non exclusive permission to host, store, process, reproduce, and display that content only as reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Yum Baby services you use.
For example, this allows us to store your baby's food history and display it to you or to another caregiver you have authorised.
Our handling of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy.
20. Yum Baby's content and intellectual property
Yum Baby Limited owns, or has permission to use, the intellectual property contained within Yum Baby.
This may include:
the Yum Baby name, logos, and branding
app and website design
written content
illustrations and graphics
food information and original written guidance
recipes created by Yum Baby
feeding stage structures and organisation
databases and original data structures
software, code, and technology
original features, tools, and systems
Yum Baby is provided for your personal and family use.
Unless permitted by law or agreed by us in writing, you may not copy, scrape, reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, license, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit Yum Baby or our content.
21. Feedback and ideas
We genuinely welcome feedback and ideas about Yum Baby.
If you voluntarily send us a suggestion, feature idea, or other feedback, you agree that Yum Baby may use that feedback to develop or improve our products without being required to pay you or treat the suggestion as confidential.
This does not give Yum Baby ownership of your personal information or content stored within your account.
22. Acceptable use
When using Yum Baby, you agree not to:
use the service for unlawful or fraudulent purposes
attempt to access another user's account or information without permission
interfere with Yum Baby's operation or security
upload malicious software or code
scrape or systematically extract Yum Baby's content or databases
copy or commercially exploit our content without permission
impersonate another person
use Yum Baby in a way that infringes another person's rights
provide or share information about a child without appropriate authority
attempt to circumvent subscription, access, or security controls
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect our users, children, our service, or the security of Yum Baby.
23. Third party services
Yum Baby uses and may connect with services provided by other companies, including Apple's App Store and technology providers that help us operate the app.
Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
If you download Yum Baby through Apple's App Store, Apple's applicable App Store terms and end user licence terms also apply to your use of the downloaded application.
Yum Baby may also contain links to independent websites or resources. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their independent content, availability, or practices.
24. Website cookies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies.
Information about the cookies we use, why we use them, and the choices available to you is explained in our Privacy Policy and, where applicable, our cookie controls.
Your privacy rights are not waived simply by using the Yum Baby website.
25. Availability of Yum Baby
We work to keep Yum Baby available and operating reliably, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error free access.
From time to time, parts of Yum Baby may be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, technical problems, security issues, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We may update, replace, improve, or remove features as Yum Baby develops.
If a material change affects a paid service, we will comply with any obligations and consumer rights that apply.
26. Account suspension or termination
You may stop using Yum Baby at any time.
We may suspend or terminate access to Yum Baby if we reasonably believe:
you have seriously or repeatedly breached these Terms
an account is being used unlawfully or fraudulently
another person's privacy or safety is at risk
suspension is reasonably necessary to protect the security of Yum Baby
we are required to do so by law
Where appropriate and reasonably practicable, we will give you notice before terminating your account and an opportunity to address the issue.
27. Account deletion
You can initiate deletion of your Yum Baby account from within the app.
Deleting an account and cancelling an App Store subscription are separate actions.
When you delete your account, personal information associated with your account will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and any legal or security retention requirements that apply.
Where a child profile is shared with more than one authorised caregiver, deleting one caregiver's account may not necessarily delete the shared child profile if another authorised caregiver continues to have legitimate access to it.
The account deletion process will explain the effect of deletion before you confirm it.
28. Privacy
We take privacy seriously, particularly when information relates to babies and children.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we may share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights and choices available to you.
Yum Baby does not sell baby or child profile information.
Please read our Privacy Policy before using Yum Baby.
29. Our responsibility to you
Yum Baby will provide its services with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with obligations that apply to us under applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies a legal guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Yum Baby Limited is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss resulting from circumstances outside our reasonable control or from decisions made contrary to appropriate professional medical or safety advice.
We are not responsible for loss arising from inaccurate or incomplete information provided by a user, or from actions taken by a caregiver whom you have authorised to access a shared profile, except to the extent that applicable law provides otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to make you responsible for loss or harm caused by Yum Baby failing to meet a legal obligation that applies to us.
30. New Zealand consumer rights
If you use Yum Baby as a consumer in New Zealand, you may have rights and remedies under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986, and other applicable New Zealand laws.
Those rights apply in addition to these Terms.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit a consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Consumers outside New Zealand may also have mandatory rights under the laws that apply where they live.
31. Changes to these Terms
Yum Baby will evolve, and we may update these Terms from time to time.
For minor changes, we may update the Terms within the app or on our website and change the date shown at the top.
If we make a material change that significantly affects your rights or obligations, we will provide reasonable notice where required.
Where the law requires your express agreement to a change, we will ask for it.
32. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
If a dispute arises, we encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve it directly.
Nothing in this section prevents you from exercising any mandatory consumer rights, including rights available to you under the laws of the country or region where you live.
33. If part of these Terms cannot be enforced
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining Terms will continue to apply.
Any invalid provision will be modified only to the minimum extent necessary where permitted by law.
34. No waiver
If Yum Baby does not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, that does not mean we have given up the right to enforce it later.
35. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional terms clearly presented to you when you purchase or use a particular feature, form the agreement between you and Yum Baby relating to your use of our services.
They do not replace any mandatory terms or consumer rights that apply under law or any applicable App Store licence terms.
